I bought Jeffrey Archer's first book "not a penny more not a penny less". it took me about 1 1/2 months to read the book which normally never happens as i always finish the novels quickly. But this i wanted to savor it slowly. I knew there'd be twist in the plot but surprised when i realized there wasn't one but two twist. It was really hilarious in the ending. if anyone of you have not read it then go grab a copy for yourself. Aint it true that old is gold.

The global economic meltdown has finally affected my pocket. I was always happy go lucky guy, but now I calculate every penny that i spend on stuff. Moved from speed petrol to ordinary petrol. Started to buy clothes for just about Rs 350. But thinking of learning golf. Now what can i say about it? I had been wanting to learn golf since last summer, hopefully by this December end I'd have joined one. Now that'd cost me some bucks let see.....penny wise pound foolish are we?

Last week i watched Dasavatharam. Well i think it was OK. The story and the concept was good, but i think he didn't have to do ten roles. I felt only four would have been OK. But again he gave his best shot. Here are the five best things i liked/hated about Dasavatharam.

IPL final

No matter what people think about the IPL final, I think CSK gave one hell of a match to the rajasthan royals. We made them sweat like anything. Hats off to MSD, even though he lost his composure at few points. No one could have asked for a better final. bravo MSD hope to catch more of the action next season

Last week I had been to landmark, nungabakkam to see one of the greatest story teller "Jeffrey Archer". Loads of people gathered it was like a mini rock concert there. Once he came in there was applause from the public. He started of with his background, how he came to write books, about the success of "Kane and Abel". But unfortunately since i had to rush i left within 30 mins, wish i could have stayed a bit longer and got his autograph. No worries will get in when i'm in UK. ;)

I came back from work and buzzed my family to send the lift down so that I can get home to 2nd floor. I was just about to walk towards the lift, the power went down. I was wondering what if i was few seconds early, i would have got stuck inside the lift with only two pieces of chicken tandoori to eat which i was carrying to relish it for dinner. Well the worst part would have been that no one in my family could have helped me out as i was the Only one who knows how to conduct a rescue operation when lift is stuck. isn't that ironic.

I was watching a audio launch of kamal's dasavatharam. It was nice until I noticed mallika's attire. I just wanted to see how would the HMK(Hindu Makal Katchi) react this time. WTF there was no news about the way she dressed. I think HMK picks its prey and manipulates people's emotions.
If they think shreya's dressing sense offended tamil people, so did mallika's. I'm not criticizing the actresses dressing sense , but the HMK criticizing sense .
I think HMK wanted to get into limelight after staying in dark so they sprang at poor shreya. Beware all beautiful ladies HMK alias BIG BROTHER will spring into action anytime.

Entrepreneurship

I was reading jaiz article or post to be precise about entrepreneurship. I happened to meet some people who were cribbing about what was happening to them at work. They were annoyed and pissed off by the way they were treated. They felt there wasnt opportunity and they had lost all the faith.

I advice them to think out of the box and turn the problem into a solution. We always dont get what we want, instead of cribbing about how things are going bad for us it'd be wise to think and re-think about a solution to solve the problem or use it as leverage to catapult our strength to the maximum.

I was once told by my uncle to survive one should beg, steal and borrow. So fingers crossed guys.

Good Movies

It really annoys me when metro's like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad gets all the "GOOD" movies released at their cineplexes. Chennai always misses out. All the movies selected for oscar nominations this year were "GOOD" ones, when I say "GOOD" i dont mean action packed ones but the ones that are soul stirring, drama and with strong character. I saw a poster of "Michael Clayton" at Satyam cinemas. I was glad finally one good movie has arrived. I wanna watch "Juno", "No country for old men" etc....
So all the cineplex owners we want to see some "GOOD" movies.....

Bajaj has released a new commercial for the pulsar range. I was gob smacked. The music, the bike synchronization, the location, the cinematography all come together. Kudos to the team that was behind this ad.

I have heard people say "opportunity knocks your door only once"... I always thought they were right....But now i kinda get a feeling that its all within us. I think smart people dont wait for opportunity, they seize every monent, they create their opportunity.

I came across a article in a newspaper...the writer says never say no to anything you might never know what it might lead you to.

Oh well lets see how things are going turn for me....fingers crossed...

MicroSoft Opens Up

Microsoft has finally decide to release its source code. what a great thing! they have monopolized the OS market, now they will soon capture Open Source. But unfortunately MS has said that the source can only be used for non commercial purpose.

We have to wait and see how MS market turns out to be. Go Microsoft Go Bill Gates.

Blue Gym

Finally i enrolled myself into a gym. Its the "Blue Boutique". The fees is comparatively cheaper than other gyms around that area. Will be starting from next monday onwards. They have a climbing wall of 12ft. Woah....

Lets see if i can get up every morning at 5:30....

DIESEL

Last week i was at the Diesel Bar, GN Chetty Road. I must say i was impressed with ambiance, very dim lit, small but cozy. The beverages on their menu was too good. They know how to attract the crowd. The bartender was also good, he performed some of the juggling stunts. The food was the best part, its all mexican. The only problem was music, it was too loud apart from that it was a good night.

Finally i have finished this book(iCon Steve Jobs). Got to know a lot more about him. He is one smart business man and very innovative. No wonder his iPOD is a hit. cant believe he is an vegan. good on him.

One of the most impressive thing about him was return to Apple Inc. Man he must have been very convincing. Am gonna lay my hands on another book. Will write about that in next post.

OBC HELL

I hold an account with OBC Bank. I was there today to withdraw my salary and the senior manager goes at us(myself and my workmates) "you cannot withdraw your salary here, its a lot of trouble for us".....Talk about their customer service. guess no one does any transaction with them no wonder they have loads of trouble when people withdraw their salary.

Polladhavan Movie

Been to "Polladhavan" yesterday at devi bala(yuck). The movie was good, enjoyed it thoroughly and the comedy was hilarious. But the surroundings was one of the worst. There were rats and water dripping from the screen. Will never go there again.
Planning to go and watch "Om Shathi Om" hope its a good one too.
